from the information i gathered most christians i met say he was an angel..
on that note
and they say angels are PERFECT
if angels are so perfect
why wasn't lucifer perfect?
this is another thing I believe shows more corruption in the religion of christianity
(its time to have some more serious discussions, rather than pick on jethro all the time, and this MIGHT bring Gen X back from the dead)

I don't believe that any Christian theolgian has claimed
that angels were perfect. I believe that they are
considered to be manifestations of godhood (NOT minor gods)
and thus are no more to be understood than God.
This being so, it follows that Satan was the manifestation
of the desire for control? Hmmmmmm.....

hmm
Defarm
on that note
could you give me proof from the bible to state that angels are not perfect?
and i am not sure i undrestand exactly what position you put angels in, if they are not minor gods... (not that i believe they are gods or anything)
and
do christians believe that angels have free will?

1. Of course he was an angel. How else would he have any power? He was in fact an archangle.
2. God created humans. Everything God created was good (Genesis in the Bible). Man sinned, which caused us to become corrupt. Angels were good. Angels became jealous, which caused some of them to rebel and get kicked out of heaven. Their leader was lucifer or the father of lies.
3. Corruption in the Christian religion? What is there to say? "They have eyes, but they do not see. They have ears, but they cannot hear." Your statement was exceptionaly blind. Show me some corruption and I will rebuke it one by one.
4. You think "gen x'rs" are the only people who live for God?

Kovan, you'll notice that in all the religious threads that
I have replied to, I have never quoted the Bible. Frankly,
you can find justification for almost everything in the
Bible, which, as far as I'm concerned invalidates almost
everything that CAN be proven from the Bible.
I DO quote theologians (tho generally not by name), because
I am familiar with (not expert in) the works of the major
religious (catholic and protestant) strains of thought.

DerFarm,
1. You say that the Bible invalidates anything it proves? If it proves it, then how is it invalid?
2. Do you believe that the Bible is true?
3. Do you believe that God exists and wrote the Bible through men?
kovan,
1. I could find no other contradictions in chit chat. Perhaps I am misreading your request. Could you post the name of the thread?
2. "and this MIGHT bring Gen X back from the dead" I take that to mean that this thread is meant to revive participation of gen x's. This idirectly implies that gen x's are the only ones who will reply. This means that gen x's are the only ones who care about the subject.

No, Edwin, I do not believe in an omnipotent power. I do
not believe in the Bible, Quran, DaoTse, Mao's Little Red
Book, or any other belief system that has all the answers.
I am knowledgeable about religions because I enjoy the
involved thought processes necessary in the philosophies of
absolutes.
I am also knowledgeable in Greek, Viking, Finnish, and
Mongol religious systems. I don't believe in them, either.

Proof that angels aren't perfect
Then God said, "Let us make people in our image, to be like ourselves. They will be masters over all life – the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the livestock, wild animals, and small animals."
Gen 1:26 NLT
are angels living? I would think yes they are. So we are masters over all life from the above scriptures. We are made in the image of God, a 3 fold being. yet the angels are less than us. we made mistakes, how much more do you think the angels would if we are closer to perfection than they are.
There are other points in the bible too and if I remember and get some time I will point them out to you. Don't make statments you can't support.

DerFarm,
How do you think the world/all of creation/universe came into existence?

I saw a post from you to someone that implied he had addressed the contradictions you posted, but he did that personally and you asked if he would post his answers publically here. What ever happened to that?

Edwin, good luck reading all the threads on the subject, you're in for many long hours of reading if you're after the full story. The very first thread which brought up the subject of religion in a serious way was, I believe, one entitled 'Evolution and AI' or something along those lines. This is going back a long time though.
Anyway, enjoy your reading.
