Xp Icons - Again!!!!! [RESOLVED]
ive searched for hours, days and weeks for those bloody XP Menu icons, toolbar icons etc. Cant find any where you can simply right click > save target as. Tried making my own, but apart from the fact they look crap, the transparency is never right, even after reading many tutorials. I cant even rip them, as i dont have XP. So if anybody has office XP, or knows where to get icons, sized 16x16 and 32x32 ID BE TRULY GRATEFUL
THANKS!

Try getting a resource hacker and hack explorer.exe or shell32.dll or something. You can change the start string with it, you should be able to extract a few images.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

I wasnt convinced that Microangelo was the best Icon Maker......until i downloaded it. Finally i can create XP style specific 16x16, 32x32, 48x48 Icons with transparency, best of all they actually load into my VB RESOURCE files, which doing a Batch conversion before never did the trick
But i would be happy if someone could share there XP Style icons

not included what i want, but its good never the less. Do you think i could use the XP Message box icons and put them into my Win98Se Shell32.DLL? M MsgBox icons suck, infact would it be possible for me to use the XP Shell32.DLL without corrupting system?
Thanks

I would replace the icons on a one-by-one basis with resource hacker. i dont know what would happen if you replaced win98's shell32.dll with xp's.

Windows 98 isn't supposed to support 32-bit icons, so i wouldn't recommend it.

1) i used Resource Hacker to extract about 5 icons, theres even AVI files in there
2) Could i not convert the 32-bit icons to 256 or whatever Win98 supports?...
....They look much prettier than the Win9x icons

Yeah you can do that, but you loose the alpha channel, it ends up looking quite dodgy especially when you try to make it transparent.
