    Echo...echo...echo

OK, my friends computer has Realtek AC97 and his audio keeps echoing. Here's his description:

" any audio that plays has like a chorus effect that like duplicates the sound and it sounds like an echo"

I tried messing around with his sound controls and nothing seems to help. If you gots any helpful ideas...post

Has "your Friend" installed something recently that has out of date directX or something?

    Try checking your drivers.
I don't live here any more.

Does that card have an EAX plugin or option? That can do all kinds of sound effects, including making your pc sound like it's in the toilet bowl.
PC performance buffs have long measured hardware advances using a few simple metrics: Is it faster? Is it bigger? Does it have more blinky lights?
