    Game Section - FAQ??? ([Resolved]

I have talked with some of the most posting guys here at the game section about Frequently asked qestions in the game section. It looks like there is more or less the same questions that takes up nearly all the new threads there. Me, BodwadUK, and Electroman (and probably more) are willing to set up a FAQ in the game section if we are allowed to, and someone are willing to make it a sticky. We can do all the work, and you can of course modify the contents if there is something in the FAQ that you don't want there. Do we have a green flag? Or do you think it is a bad idea???

Yeah that was a good idea. My signture will at least have the FAQ section there. We will have to see when it is finished if it suits the Tutorial forum...

One more question......some of the questions that should be in the FAQ there are good tutorials on other sites for. Is it OK to post links to them. Or is that "taboo"....

I prefer links to Jupitermedia/Jupiterweb sites; however, if there are not similar articles, then links to other sites may be acceptable within reason. If you cant' find the topic on Developer.com, CodeGuru.com, or DevX, then it might be something worth writing an article on for one of those sites .

OK...then I like Martins suggestion better, to add them here on the site as tutorials. Or even make just a thread to it in the game section.

Thanks for the answer. *Getting back to the tutorial I was writing*

Yet an other question. I did read the submission rules in the tutorial section. But when I did read most of the other threads there, they didn't stick to the rules at all. So I was wondering: I have made some tutorials for an other site some weeks ago. And I was wondering if I could post them as they where, or if I have to "redesign" them to fit the submission rules. Take a look at one of them here:

    http://www.developerkb.com/modules/w...p?articleid=38

And an other thing is that there is a 10000 charckter maximum per post here on the foum. Does that meen that I have to post all the tutorials over many posts????

BTW the link for the submission guidlines here are not working.

    Gives me the folloving error:

Si_the_geek can answer the rules/formatting questions. Based on what he states, we may be able to help you get around the size limitation.

I would also like to suggest/request that you consider submitting your tutorials to CodeGuru (simply submit them to [email protected]). The Snake article would be a good post for there as well.

Thanks. I will ask him about it. And I will probably submit the tutorials to codeguru when I am finished all of them. Lot of things that has to be sorted out first.

    Thanks for you answer.

    Hi Brad,
For these links would it be ok if some of them pointed to our personal sites? I say this because is some cases I think it would be easier to format using a web page rather than a post.
It would only be the sites of us involved in putting together the FAQ.
    Thanks

I would prefer to point to a Jupitermedia Web site. I can post articles and FAQ type postings to the VB section of CodeGuru. If they are sent to [email protected] with a note that they are an FAQ for the VBForums, I'll make sure that the editorhas them linedback into this forum.

If this is how it is supposed to look at over there, it will actually look nicer as 2-4 posts at this forum...

Can you do that?? That would be nice....join the FAQ thread in the game section, and contribute as much as you want. Everything from questions that should be in the FAQ to links to resolved threads for the questions to tutorials are greatfully apreciated.

    Thanks

    Ok, no problem Noteme.

There could be a mix up, if you say at least 4 of us are doing the FAQ, how do you know who is doing what? You need to split it into some kind of category, and one user does one thing, the other does another.

Just to let you know ive enabled PM's now, so you can message me or email me if you like

can't see what you are complaining about...there is no confusion at all. I will write the final FAQ thread, marty will stick it. And everyone that has a contribution to it if it is questions we have missed. Or if it is a tutorial they can put together or anything are welcome to post/make it....

MartinLiss, we have finished the first version of the FAQ. Can you make it a sticky in the game section when you have the time. If you have any comments on it. Just write me a PM or post here. We have made a lot of tutorials and examples, but there is always more that can be done, so if you don't lock it we can update it every time we have the time to add more to it.

    Here is the link

    Thanks

Brad: Once Si The Geek is finished with fixing my tutorials I can post them at CodeGuru too if you want. But for now they are waithing in line in the submitt part of the code bank.

    Thanks

Thanks a lot for giving me this chance. Now the Resolved tag is on it's place. Even if it has been there since post number 2...
