[pics] I think I solved my overheating problem!

I haven't cleaned out my case in a while, I go to open it up to have a look and.. um... well damn.

Time to bust out the dirt buster and canned air!

When was the last time you cleaned out your case?

Letting a girl loose with a screwdriver is just asking for trouble.

My second girlfriend once tried to fix her stereo while listening to Radio 1. I reckon the marigolds saved her life.

I took the lid off my XBOX the other day, its about 18 months old and it had not a spot of dust in it at all.

At what point does the dust fairy come along and deposite a kilo of skin cells and gunk in a case?

Last time I cleaned it out was about 8 months ago. It makes the heat stay around the CPU alot longer with dust in the heatsink.

Get a more powerful fan. Got a dual xeon server in work - been up for the past few years nearly straight - and there's very little dust in the case.

My case isn't on 24/7, which is why the dust collects

Take a leaf out of my brother's book.

He decided one day to take the computer and completely dis-mantle it. When I say completely I mean anything which was put together with screws suffered.

His reasons were "to see how it was put together" - too bad he couldn't re-assemble it though.

    Not that completely - thankfully.

He did dismantle the power supply though.
