Remote Procedure Call Services – it is RPCSS.EXE in Windows 95/98/ME, while it is RPCSS.DLL in Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003. Remote Procedure Call is the feature which enables programs to call each other’s publicly declared procedures (programming code) over a network. From initially being little used under Windows 95/98/ME, RPCSS has now become essential to the proper running of most of the recent versions of network related Microsoft software (Winsocks, Internet Explorer, ICS), thus disabling it or deleting it will result in problems at some point. Under any Windows 95/98/ME environment with reasonably recent Microsoft software installed, RPCSS runs at all times as a transparent task visible only through The Ultimate Troubleshooter, while under Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003 RPCSS is a crucial part of the design of the operating system and deleting/disabling this program disables the operating system !

    Recommendation :
    Leave well alone !
For a comprehensive list of all TaskList program and their descript check this page http://www.answersthatwork.com/Taskl...s/tasklist.htm

    Hope this helps.

I found a function in Spybot - Search and destroy that showed me every thing that started when my PC started. It also described most of them, and told me if I could get rid of them or not. WHen I used that app, I freed up 40% of my memmory, and my CPU worked much faster. But after I upgraded my Spybot I couldn't find that tool in the app anymore...

The speed increas is of course dependent of how much **** you got on your machine-....If you go to tools, and systemstart, and go through that long list, and deletes everything you don't need, you will free up a lot of memory and CPU time....PS: don't delete too much....

Everytime you start Real Player, that stupid program add itself to the registry. I remmber a while back there was some talk about it (Real Player) sending info such as song played, play list etc, back to the server.

Just goes to show you dont know which programs are logging your moves. And RealPlayer makes it seem they are a big organisation group, in which 90% of people would trust in using. AOL loads RealPlayer and installs it all the time, even if i dont want to use it. Damn AOL and REALPLAYER

What other programs are sending feedback of my activities

There are conspiricy theories that even window iteself sends back information to Microsoft and NSA .

There are websites that tell you which programs is sending back information.

Seriously if you are concerned about security/privacy install a firewall. I myseekf never use firewall or anti-virus they take up too much resources. I have my own ways of protecting myself !

If im suspicious about a program i use packet sniffer to see what data its sending back.

    Whats Packet Sniffer?
Packet Sniffer/IP Sniffer/Packet Analyser is a program which analyses every incoming and outgoing IP packets. It allows you to see the content of those packets also other information such as IP Header information, Source Address, Destination Address etc.

A lot of system admin use that to identify problem within networks, though it can be used for various other purposes.

I just want to clarify, who and what exactly is watching me?
Like Karsacer said on the other thread, there is no one there particularly watching you . Just keep your eyes and ear open you will be fine. If in any doubt ask here, we will try to help out.

    Hope this helps.
