Any Idea why C# is named like this ( C- Sharp?), why not C-Hesh?

# is Sharp in musical notation, plus C Sharp sounds cooler than C Hesh.

I understand there is a strong reason for Microsoft to go for this notaion and name for C#. But I am unable to find it. Actually I need this for my article I am preparing on C#.

You might try asking in the C# section instead of the VB.NET section to get more responses.
