    Power supply fan making a loud noise!

    Ah God damn it!
    It's 3 AM here and I can hardly type :sleepy:

    Anyway,
    Just yesterday I started the computer in the morning and heard that loud sound, so I opened the case and checked it. The power supply fan was making that sound, it's like the fan is touching something while it's rotating which makes a very noisy thing. I have no idea why it started suddenly to make that sound. I opened the power supply itself and powered the pc on for a while to check it out (if you though I got shocked then you're right!), and the fan operated quietly!

    However when I assembled all the stuff and powered-on I got that sound again?

    What makes me really crazy is that I got assured that the fan is touching NOthing while rotating, but I am still hearing this sound ?!?!?!

    So, did anybody had such a problem before, anybody got it resolved?!?!

    HELP PLEASE!!

    Your crazy, your not suppost open the power supply housing... lol! Anyway, fans do funny things; sometimes they are loud, sometimes they are quiet, sometimes they sound so bad like their deathly ill; as if they are on their last legs (and sometimes thats the case). I wouldn't really worry about it much, however, if you think that the powersupply's fan is on its last-legs then maybe it's time to replace it.

    Its possible that the fan is causing the case to resonate. Make sure all screws are firmly tightened and that all 4 feet of the case are in full contact with your desk or whatever.

    Like when you leave your mobile phone on vibrate on a glass table and it makes a hell of a racket when it goes off!

    Got a new case! (with a power supply!)

    I think that's the best solution for such a problem (unless you're trying to get shocked?!?!?!)

    Go2 radio shack like store and get a new fan for 3 bucks! open the housing (who cares) and replace it your self

    As far as I know, the power supply fan isn't replacable; you can only buy a new power supply!
