Install Windows XP on Serial
Ok... This is really buggin' me...
I just bought parts for a really, really awesome new programming machine, but i'm having a little trouble...
I am trying to install Windows XP on a Serial ATA hard drive and it isn't letting me do so... It says it doesn't see the hard drive...
I have the driver disk that came with my motherboard and I did the whole F6 thing to load special hd drivers, but when it asks for the disk it just looks at it briefly and then pop the screen back up asking for the disk again instead of moving forward...
Ok... here are the parts i'm using...
MSI K7N2 Motherboard w/ Promise SATA (PDC20376)
Western Digital 120GB SATA HD
has anyone else had this problem? know a work around for this?
Thankx

If you mean just use the drivers in the Win XP setup... There are none for this SATA controller...
What do you mean if this is not it.

The drivers need to be on a floppy disk for the WinXP setup process to read them. Assuming you are trying to install them from a CD, look on the CD and see if you can find the drivers folder. Copy the contents to a floppy disk and try again. I had the same problem with a Silicon Image Serial ATA controller.

I have the drivers on a disk that came with the motherboard, but it just isn't working... don't know why...
I'm supposing that the Windows Installation just doesn't recognize the drivers on the disk...
Looks like I'm just going to have to get ahold of MSI...
This crap is really freakin' me out!... I even had dreams about it last night...
