Any free antivirus sw? [Resolved]
Are there any good free antivirus softwares out there? I'm not aware of any names, and I was kinda wondering, since Norton has expired here, and I don't have much money left.

There is a freeware virus scanner called AVG. And the website is here It is faster (less CPU-time) as most other scanners, but I don't know how safe it is.I do use it myself

AVG is the best free virus scanner around, hands down.
Too bad no one needs virus scanners

Do you even read replies or do you see one word and just post it? I never said talking about it was illegal, downloading them is unless you actually own the original and I you can still get in trouble for that if the right person finds out.

What form? I have NEVER seen a form when installing an application. I've seen their privacy policies and such but never a form. Also, downloading a copy != backing up a DVD/CD. There is a big difference.

Common...just because I am not from USA and know every word there is in the book...you can't stop complaining....and the privacy statment is on a seperate form... .......and no there is no diffrence if you read the privacy statment in downloading your copy or making it your self....

I'm pretty sure you have a whole thread about not needing anti-virus software...
here it is:

and there was another one i can't find.

I fail to see your point. You were bitching at me for doing it in this thread when I was joking. The other stuff was old news and I didn't even start the 2nd thread on it. I didn't even start that thread either, you people started the whole arguement.

I run AVG... and I can honestly say it is the worst, most unsecure software i've ever used.
A friend uses it, and recommended it, but i'll be taking it off soon.
For instance... i've just done a complete test using AVG, and it failed to detect 4 (yes, FOUR) viruses that were actually running! If you want some good AV software try:
1. TrendMicro http://housecall.trendmicro.com
2. Computer Associates http://www.ca.com (I'de recommend this one)
3. Panda Software http://www.pandasoftware.com/actives..._principal.htm
4. RAV Antivirus http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/
If you want to test your online security...
1. ShieldsUP https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
2. Sygate http://scan.sygate.com
I liked the look of AVG, but it's just as much of a let down as Symantec AV!
