Site Button Colors?
Am I crazy or did the buttons on this site used to be blue? I thought a while back we switched them to blue versions instead of the default purple, but not they are purple again.

Yeah i was going crazy there for a minute, they must be changing them, the smilies have changed too. Look at the "Messed up forum" thread in Chit Chat to see the latest chat on it.
I though my AOL totally lost the plot there

We also have more ugly crap on the bottom of the pages, too.

Ahhh, how I have purple buttons.... I didn't a few minutes ago. Someone updated the footer. They should not have touched the smilies or buttons. The icons are the CodeGuru list.....
hmmm.....
I'm on it....

Make me an admin so I can fix this stuff for you. It'll never happen again too!

I found the name of the person who did the overwrite.... I'm asking that they restore back to to what everything was before they overwrote. It is the end of the day, so this may not happen until tomorrow.
grrrrrr...

It was a system admin -- not a VBForums/vBulletin admin. It was done on the server. I'd prefer to have them fix the problem -- so that it is less likely to happen again .
If it doesn't get updated early tomorrow, then I'll see what backups I have on my machine of the buttons and icons, and I'll put them back.
((I'm not sure how you would prevent a system admin at the server level from overwriting values in a directory being that they have writes to change file permissions and everything.))

This will be fixed some time this "morning" (EST USA time). The forum was updated with the new point release update and the system guy forgot to leave the image directories alone. He told me he would fix the mistake this morning.

Everyone should be seeing blue again.
You should also have the colored smilies back. I know I've said it before; however, I'll mention it again -- if you have a cool icon you want added to the board --> that you have the rights to <-- then send it my way. As long as it is yours to share, I'll add it to the smilies box.

Spetnik,
Send me an email with these attached and I'll consider posting them. (with this many, it is easier for me to drop them directly onto the server than to use the vBulletin interface).

I used admin perogative. I didn't use three of these icons because I liked the originals better. The others look good though
Now we just need a few more good animated smilies....

You've mentioned before "if it's your own"...
the smilie is almost ubiquitous, but we can't claim it to be our own. What then is the 'exact' critera? I really don't think there's any sort of a COPYRIGHT on smilies anywhere.

True for the basic smilie , however, there are sites that create animated smilies and sell them -- or give them free if you do something for them. There is one pop-up that I see regularly that has lots of great animated smilies that they say are free, however, if you read the fine print, you'll see that they are free for personal use if you do xyz. They are not free for a site like this to use. As long as an animated smilie is a free, public, no-strings-attached file then we can use it. If you didn't create the file though, then it is harder to verify and prove that there are no strings attached.
If I get the pop-up, I'll snap it and put screen shot here to show you what I'm talking about.

I got it off cracksmilies.com or something. I believe all their smilies are free for public use. I'll check when I get home.

Why did you put spaces in those? A simple trick to get around the vBull paraser: :) works or you could have just turned off smilies
