Search results
I tried to search for DirectDrawColorControl on this forum and I got nothing. I know that I have posted a post in a thread just days ago with that exactly word. With the same capital letters. Why didn't the search result give any results?

Hmm. You're right, I can't find it either.
I did find http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.p...ADirectDraw%2A
where you mention *DirectDraw*, as in DirectDrawSurface7,
and *ColorControl* only returns http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.p...olorControl%2A
The terms: DirectDrawColorControl , *DirectDraw*, *ColorControl* don't even return this thread.
Hmm!
Hmmm, you do say "DirectDrawColorControl.GetColorControls", let me see...
Nope! *DirectDrawColorControl* doesn't work either.
Must exceed Max String Length.
How about *Direct*Control*?
Nope! Got http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.p...%2AControl%2A, with a hit on DirectSoundControl.

Stupid search...

Actually it is a smart search, and a stupid index file.
Words are only placed in the search index if they are from 2 to 20 characters in length. DirectDrawColorControl is 22 characters, so you won't find it with the search.

We've already made changes to drop the index down to two and up to 20 characters. Each time you increase this you slow things down. I can increase the size to allow for 22 or 25 characters, but then someone will want something even bigger. Additionally, if I make a change, it requires me to re-index the forum, which takes several hours (like 8 to 12 if I remember correctly). As such, even if we agreed to change this, I wouldn't do it before Sunday.

Hehe...no worries...I bet there is no post at this forum about that topic anyway...and there is no or little information in the DX SDK, and no at MSDN, and only one page on the internet...will probably take you less time to trancelate that page from germen to English for me Brad then re index this forum...

I am not chit chating...at least not before now....but I didn't ask him to make a trancelator, just to trancelate that page...and it was just a joke...so shut up and let him do his work....
End of discussion...

Brad, I can see where the previous change from 3 to 2 could have slowed things down because that included a lot of new keys, but since there are probably only a few "words" larger than 22 I suspect that the hit won't be very large if the maximum is raised to 25.

Hehe. ..no Sorgen.
I don't know how good that translation is; however, it only took about 60 seconds..... And I don't know German.

I was going to look at bumping the search up to 25 characters this week-end and reindexing, so your suggestion so well noted Martin.

When did that appear? I'm embarrased to say that I wasn't aware of it.

The footer change occurred independently of the upgrade to the forum software. The Jupitermedia developers have been working to improve their search. It sounds like you like the results .
