    Visual Basic RAM question.

Hey guys, .NET users, do compiled programs in VB .net take up as much ram as they do in Visual Basic 6? I may be wrong but it seems like they take up a bit of ram... thanks!

Yes , .NET App eats up more memory than VB6 does . For some known & unknown reasons.

Weird, i was hoping that issue was improved - what about application speed in general? I've read that load time can be seemingly long in .net. Is this true?

It's not that bad but it's highly depend on how good the machine is ! JIT compiler , GC , FW ..etc do affect application load and execution . I run XP , 2.4 Intel , 750 DDR , Gforce 4.0 with all this , it seems quite fast but not compared to VB6 Apps .

well win95 will load about 50 times faster than win2k3 on my machine too, but if you think a little, you shouldnt be too angry about this difference in load time why? you figure

haha i see the point you were attempting to make but in my experience win95 loads slower than my xp. but then again i havn't tested with the same specs, either way its kind of a stretch
