    i have this zip file, which i had protected with a password. somehow, now i can't seem to remember the password and i need to open this file. can someone please tell me how to, if at all possible.

    One word: Brute

    The only way you'll get it open is to try all the passwords you can think of. Winzip uses a sort of 'one-way-hash' which is sorta like the Blowfish encryption. Wrong Password = wrong crc etc.
