Migration
How do I install WinXP on a computer with Win98? Can I install over it or should I uninstall Win98 first?

I would recommend not upgrading, as I'm pretty sure you will not be able to have NTFS formatting of the hard drive (which gives lots of security benefits), and you may also copy-forward software which is not compatible with XP (which may cause serious stability issues).

I knew I'd be facing software compatibility problems though I wasn't aware of the first issue you mention. I think it'll be sound not to upgrade as you advise.
Thanks a lot.

no problem
just make sure you back up everything (especially documents etc) you might need, or better still keep a copy of the whole disk on the another drive (or CD's if you have a writer) if there is space.
