Hello all, new here, and I have a couple of questions...

    Hi All,
I am sure you have heard this story before, but here goes anyway. I am VB developer that wants to take my VB experience to the web. I was wondering if VB.NET is enough to build a complete website? Can someone point me to a specific example that I can use? Also, does anyone know of a good website developed using VB.NET entirely?

Thanks for any help and or guidance.

This depends on what you want your site to do. You can build a website in ASP.NET using VB just fine, but if the website doesn't need Server-Side scripting, plain HTML would be a better choice.

Can you tell us what you want to do?

ASP is pretty popular, but like kasracer said, you don't want to over complicate if you don't need to.

Well for starters, I just want to create a very simple site...something that can be done in HTML, but I want to do in VB.NET to learn. I think, once I get my feet wet, it will be easy for me to add on. I am looking for a project that I can deploy that is fairly simple, maybe a few pages, a couple of lookups...some feedback pages to store replys...that type of thing.

have a look at my website if you want (i warn you though it ain't that good!). It's currently under re-development so some links don't work.

It's all developed in asp.net and Vb.net code behind, with an access database storing all the content.

Yes, that is cool...that is what I am looking for. I know VB.NET will be limited as a TOTAL solution, but I believe it will make a great base? If I could get a small piece of that sample project, that would be AWESOME!!!
