I was partitioning my HD w/Partition Magic, but it froze and I couldn't do anything. Of course, restarting f-ed it all up, now I can't even boot anything. Help!

1. Did you make the boot floppies? If not, see 2
2. Put in your Windows disc, go into the recovery console. Type in fixboot and fixmbr. Then remove disc and reboot. If that didn't work, see 3.
3. FORMAT

boot from the cd and follow the directions..... it is impossible to format your OS when you're in your OS so being able or not being able to boot into XP/2K wouldn't make a difference.

alright, disregard everything i just said in the last 2 posts. i worked some magic and i started the recovery console but the fixboot thing didnt work. anything else i should try, cuz i really don't wanna give up this easily.

Before you format, try reinstalling Windows WITHOUT formatting. This should fix any problems that have been created on the OS install and your data should be saved.
Unless it was a problem with partitioning, in which case, you HAVE to format

alright...so...i formatted my HD, and tried partitioning it again before I did anything so I wouldn't have to re-format over and over. well, I partitioned it w/Partition Magic on purpose, just to see if it sucked that much. it worked...so now i'm 2 for 3 when using PM.
