Got WinXP? Do me a favor!

I screwed up one of my registry keys in an attempt to make google my default search provider.

    1. Navigate to the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search

And give me the values for:

    CustomizeAssistant
    SearchAssistant

    2. Do you know what registry keys have to be modified so that I don't keep seeing that ugly msn search all the time?

    TIA

OK, thanks for that. Although I'm sure it wasn't websearch, but I figure it can't do any harm.

If anyone does know the answer to #2...

    Yes, that's the one!

In IE6, click on the "Search" button. It'll open up a sidebar with one of MSNs own pages. Is there anyway I can replace that <-- particular page with a page of my own?

And what line do you need to add to make google seach?

Or do you just put http://www.google.com and it searches automatically?

    I'm jealous, and curious... how?

I click on Search, then click on the Customize button, and I see "google" nowhere on the list.

This did it. Make the above changes, and click on the "Search" button. Click on Customize, and in the window that pops up, choose "Use Search Assistant"

Don't worry about changing the values below. Restart IE, and Google should be there assisting you with your searches.

    Thanks everyone

You can also make it the default URL Searcher (when you type in a wrong URL while looking for those porn sites) by using this reg file:

    http://www.google.com/google.reg

(right click, save target as, thank mendhak)
