wont restart

my comp is fairly new, prolly a couple months, and recently, it hasnt been restarting, i dont know what the problem is, i go to start--turn off computer---then a screen appears, and i click restart and it does save settings, and it ssays sumthing else, but then it says "shutting down" and it never shuts down, and it just sits there forever basicly, and i cant seem to kno why it doesnt restart or what the problem could be, please send back if u have any clue at all or can be of any help, thanks

What OS are you on? Have you toyed around with your msconfig yet?

He's got XP Home. As for msconfig, I dont think he will know what that means. He still learning the PC basics. But I can help him, so relay anything you get to me. THANKS!

P.S. Could It have anything to do with the fact he has ALOT of programs running. Including Zone Alarm, Norton, McAfee Gaurdian, and much much much more! Could it be that WINXP is having some trouble closing alot of these down and gets so cluttered it just dies? I doubt that it's the HD because he said his PC is fairly new.

Try and remember what programs you installed prior to the issue happening. I know I had an issue with GoBack, after I installed it the same thing happened to me. If you can remember what it was, uninstall it and see if it fixes the prob.

Ah he really doesnt wanna uninstall any of that even if he can remember. :-\

my comp restarted and shut down for like a week, and i didint change or delte nuthing, but now its not restarting or even shutting down, i mean wuts the best thing to do, call the company and ask the prob? or is there an easier way like that some1 might kno of, mayb doing sumthing to the comp or sumthing??
