Installation questions

I have VS2002 .. now I want to install VS2003 .. hard disk space is my consideration.. my newbie questions are as follow:

1. does it require VS2002 when I want to install VS2003?
2. What will happen if VS2002 removed before VS2003 installed?

remove vs2002 and save n e projects u may have, then remove reinstall vs2003 no u dnt need it :/ well i didnt just awhole new proggie

I'd suggest clean installation (format the whole thing) to get rid of possible errors and to make sure you are working in pure VS.NET 2003 environment .

If I follow your suggestion, then I have questions below:

1. in VS2002 we need 5 CDs .. but in VS2003 we need only 3 CDs .. If I format the whole things then I though I will lose some parts in VS2002 .. does it still require in VS2003?

2. Will I have complete package of VS2003 like I have in VS2002?

For the Dev tool , VS.NET 2003 is completely separate (forget about the stupid upgrade cd) product . You no longer need VS.NET 2002 .

For MSDN Help , if you don't have it with VS.NET 2003 Cds , then you need to download it though from links I posted couple of months ago on this forum .

Why don't you want to bother yourself with having to products , one so buggy (2002) and one so far so good (2003) .

1. Can I install and use MSDN that comes with VS2002?
2. If No, where can I download MSDN 2003?
3. How big the MSDN? approx ..
4. Just want to make sure .. does VS2002 is a failed product?

A1. Can't remember exactly but I believe you can customize installation process of VS.NET 2002 to install only MSDN Help files .


2. If No, where can I download MSDN 2003?

Off the links I posted here : . Note , that there is an upgrade (70Mb for 2003 version) that requires Oct 2003 Help which I couldn't find . So install April version (the ones in the link) and it's enough .

3. How big the MSDN? approx ..
A3. If they come as ISO files , I'd guess it's 1500Mb .


4. Just want to make sure .. does VS2002 is a failed product?
A4.I don't know . As a programming language , I love C#. As for .NET Framework , it's damn cool thing . It makes life easier .
