Is this normal behavior?
A couple days ago, this started happening on a regular basis. I'd startup my laptop, and after some time of using it, the battery light indicator would start flashing. The manual told me (I have a talking manual), that a flashing light indicated "the AC Adaptor is connected, but the batter is either not present or has some fault with it."
Since the battery's there, it has to have some fault. But what fault? I pulled the battery out, and it was hot. And when I mean hot, I mean hot. (I managed to fry an omelette on it).
I left it out for a while, waited for it to cool down, and put it back in. The light stopped flashing, and was continuous. Indicating that it's charging. The light never turns green nowadays (indicating fully charged). It just stays orange, indicating "charging."
So what's going on? What do I do? Want an omelette?

Sounds like the safety on the bat is bad. THe safety is supposed to kick in when the battery is full charged, so you can have the laptop plugged in all the time.
But I am not sure....it sounds like the same problem as lots of the Nokia batteries has. They may explode if you leave them charging over the night.....be affraid. Very affraid.

It sounds like it is shorting out, like NoteMe said, i'd watch it, if it gets that hot it may explode, get it looked at.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

I just spoke to HP phone support, after being pushed off from chat and email support. And the resolution given was weird.
The guy says, "discharge the battery and recharge it thrice."

I'll try this and see what happens, but it's a pretty weird remedy. Oh, and this guy kept saying "Once upon a time, you have to..."
I almost burst out laughing at him once

I had an IBM guy say foresooth to me once, as if it was normal. I wasn't wearing a suit of armor or anything.
I don't live here any more.
