    Web Server and storage

I am about to set up a web server and I am trying to do this own my own. While planning I knew I was going to need lots of space for storage. So, in the event I run out of hard drive space on the server and needed to add additional storage (other than just adding a hard drive to the server) how would that be done and how would the new storage be accessable through the web server.

Also if anyone has any links that would be helpful in setting up a web server or anything related to this I would appreciate it, I haven't found much of anything helpful on the subject.

First of all how do you add more space without adding new hard drives?

That is my point - if I don't have any more room for hard drives in the server - then what?

Then you buy a bigger case or replace one of the existing hard drives with a bigger one. The only other option is external hard drives or network attached storage (which are expensive and a bit of a different story). With the size of drives now days a web server really doesn't need a lot of room/drives. Also you didn't mention what kind of server you are setting up, Windows? Linux? Also what kind of connection do you have for it?

setting up a server can be as easy as you want it to be, really.

if you use the apache web server, just run the Win32 binary and restart your computer and put the files in "htdocs"... how easy is that?

if you run our of space... um... buy a remote host with unlimited space ?

IDEs can support 4 hard drives, correct? (Somebody confirm this please)

4 high capacity hard drives are what you need.

You put High Capacity HD's your mobo and raid if you have it and you can buy a some kind of pci card with like 4 ide dillys on it.

You could have a bunch of hard drives....

If all else fails buy 4 250 gb hd's

at least you could say you have a tb of space.
