    DMZ

Instead of disabling your firewall, what you can do is Set the DMZ address to your computers internal IP address. Doing this will open all your computer's ports up...in affect disabling the firewall for you. Do a search in your Firewall's helpfiles for DMZ

    Mike,

In your Router's Manual there should be a section on how to setup/configure your router. This will explain how to get at the router utility. Most have a web utility that does it. For me I can get at it by browsing to

    http://192.168.1.1 <--- my router's internal IP address

At least this is how I do it with my router (lynksis). Do a search on your Router's Creator's webpage for DMZ.

sorry if my explination/directions stink, just hope i can point you in the right direction.

your service provider has nothing to do with the firewall settings. If you want an easy way then instead of plugging your Internet connection first into the Router then to your computer, just bypass the router and plug the cable right into your computer.

No Router = no Firewall (unless you have windows firewall enabled in that case there is a post above by someone else telling you how to turn that off)

Changing the DMZ is very simple and will not affect your internet connection in anyway. Do some research about it.
