Mistake in the Matrix / Animatrix
I rented both Matrix Reloaded and Animatrix this saturday and the Washowski brothers messsed up! Bad!
In the movies, they use an electromagnetic pulse to desable the sentinels right? And in the Animatrix, thay say that the humans bombed the robot city with nuclear weapons but the heat and radiation had no effect on the robots... UHUH?? What else does a nuclear blast cause? A BIG ASS ELECTROMAGNETIC PULSE!! DUH.

Why have we failed?
You know why.
What do I do now?
What does your mind tell you?
I don't know.
You will find out.
What must I do to find out?
You know what you must do.
Then why am I here?
To engage in this pointless conversation.
I see.

They never said they didn't have to worry about the EMP. They said that they didn't have to worry about the radiation and heat. I'm not sure of the exact size of an EMP from a nuclear blast but it isn't as big as the desctruction it causes.
The heat from the initial blast can melt peoples flesh from a couple of miles away and the blast front takes everything else out a good 10 miles from the blast site.

Reality is an illusion. Real can only be defined within the contexts of this illusion.

It could have been better, instead of the usual "humans winning" theme consistent in so many movies. But I'm not disappointed with it either.

No, they said the bomb's heat and radiation had no effect on the machines. The EMP would have disabled the whole city. A nuclear weapon blast will typically produce an EMP of tens of thousands of volts per minute. The damage to electrical systems can reach distances much greater than the blast.
And by the way kasracer why am I an idiot?

Ok then - Well apart from the fact it was just a story. Machines can be re-built and don't die from the after effects of the EMP.
I think you may be missing the more subtle philosophical message the story writers are trying to convey.

The only mistake they made was letting idiots like you watch the movie.

So I assume you havn't watched it.
If you have then may I ask what causes you to come to such a conclusion that "only idiots watch the Matrix".
Are you scared it may be true?
or
Do you just not understand it?

the movie just wasn't that all impressive if you ask me... sure it had great special effects... but the script really was not that well written... the first movie was enough.. the second and third were simply cheap money makers that took the original concept which was pretty neat and turned it into a piece of hollywood crap

I'm not getting at you kleinma. We are all entitled to our opinions - but referring to the people who watch it as idiots is just low.
I always think that the first is the best. That I believe is the case with the Matrix. But I think the plot is great - and the fact that the entire thing had been written before the second two movies were shot really does show. Again in my opinion. Matrix 1 will always be a classic and 2 and 3 are good sequeals.

I would think he means the people who try to make sense of a fictional plot....
Because I agree, they're bloody idiots!
http://www.fas.org/nuke/intro/nuke/emp.htm
It seems unless the nuke is at high-altitude there won't be much of an EMP.
So... the REAL question is, why didn't they set off the nuke at a high altitude?!
