    Anybody with an MSDN subscription?

How long does it usually take to get the first set of CD's?

Took about 3 weeks initially and they are still coming 6 month later.

Well, that's good to know. The site says 7-10 days, so I was getting a little worried. I ordered them around the 5th or 6th of this month.

They're normally very good at getting the CDs/DVDs sent out.
You should have ordered off me - I'd of given you a good price

With the DVD rebate and the discount I got through work, it'll end up costing me about $2k.

You're not actually buying it for that much, are you?

Damn I'd rather buy a nice plasma television then a subscription to some DVDs that arn't even very good right now.

Do you know what a MSDN subscription is? For 2K, you get a hell of a lot (that is if he got the universal subscription). For home users, it really isn't a need, but for a dev business, even a one man business, it is a bargin!

    On the list are:
    ALL versions of Windows.
    ALL versions of Office.
    ALL versions of VS.Net
    ALL versions of SQL Server
ALL of the other crap MS puts out. I have way over 150 CD's from the year I won the Universal subscription. It was awesome.

You get all the beta's, MSDN library updates, etc also.

I tried pricing it all out one time if I were to buy it all, and I stopped when I got to over 10K.

Or work for a Microsoft Solution Provider, and you don't have to pay for the MSDN Subscription.

On the plus side a renewal comes at a 33% discount so next year it should cost much more than $1500....

Of course you could also investigate the "Empower" program for ISVs - in that you get 5 Universals for about $800..of course you have to sell your sould to M$, but that's a given in this profession anyway.

Considering that @ $2,000.00 you can make the thing pay for it's self in less than a 40 hour work week, It's not that bad of a deal.
