    Bluetooth Devices ?

Got a question from a customer of ours. They have a class with 18 computers in it. They want to demonstrate to students transferring documenst from bluetooth enabled PDAs to the computers.

But, if they have a PDA per computer in the same room, how does the computer know which PDA to talk to?
I've never worked with bluetooth myself before...

each device has its own unique ID, and a name (which you set).

when the devices try to connect you see a list of possible devices (when I did it here I got 3 people's mobile phones!), and can pick the one you want to connect to.

I'm not sure about all devices, but the ones I have seen all need you to confirm a connection before it is allowed.

Doesnt bluetooth have a maximum number of channels tho? Cell phones, beepers uses different frequency range but bluetooth doesnt. Bluetooth uses channels.

So yea, using a permanent number like MAC adressing but, u might have awefully slow transfer and lots of interferences.

    Re: Bluetooth Devices ?

It sounds like you may run into problems with 18 devices in the same room.
Nobody knows what software they want until after you've delivered what they originally asked for.

    Re: Bluetooth Devices ?

bluetooth devices can only link up with one device at a time. when you search, you would see all available device, but to connect, you have to pick one at a time. i forget the terminology because my phone broke, but i know that's the way it used to work. i once connected to someone i didn't know when I had it set to roam, but that was an oddity.
