    Easy question: what is it??????? Is it a program (if yes then is it available in Academic price)? Or is it something else???
    Where can I find some *good* tutorials about it???

    SQL Server is a database program developed by MicroSoft. I'm not sure about your other questions.

    Are you familiar with MS Access well SQL is like Access on steroids, its for the big dogs. Access was meant for small databases and more of a single concurrent connection, SQL is for large databases and many connections, it manages the databases for security issues plus it performs the work and just sends the result back to the client where as Access all the work is done on the client side. There is a scaled done version for learning called MSDE (Microsoft Data Engine) that is in the Windows 2000 Readiness Kit and you can probably get it on CD or download from the microsoft site plus they will have more info on SQL.
