    Laptop

    I'm goin portable around christmas and I was wondering if there was any easy way to transfer my files and folders to my laptop without having to burn it all.

    Wires.



    LPT cable, USB cable, lan cross-over cables, lan+hub/router/ etc.

    If both computers have network cards, get or make a crossover cable and set up a peer to peer network. Then you can access the folders on your desktop by sharing the ones with your files.

    If you happen to have a null-modem cable (parallel is preferred because it's faster) you can also go that way, see attachment for how. Won't be nearly as fast as the straight-through network connection but then if you don't already have a pair of network cards, the cable will cost you less money. If you can find the cable that is!

    Mail them to you self, send with 1 , recieve the mail with the other.

    Thats i a ridiculous idea, besides there are usually a 3-5MB mailbox limit.

    Take the drive out of the laptop. Fit it to the computer iwth a micro IDE cable. Copy from drive to drive. That's what I do
