Everette was the pre-release name for Visual Studio 2003. Whidbey is the pre-release name for the next version of Visual Studio.

VS.NET Whidbey will be release in alpha stage to all attendees of PDC next week. Betas should go out sometime in December.
VS.NET will bring a slew of improvements. New controls (eg. blogging server control, a new asp.net grid control). Edit and continue is back in VB.NET, C# will introduce Generics (i dont know if VB.NET will have them), and anonymous methods. There will be a new namespace called My for easy access to common things. eg. My.Computer.Mouse and so forth.
I cant wait to get my hands on the beta version.

with this speed that microsoft is giving things out, it really will be hard to catch up, specially for people like me that are already way behind

I thought I read India my bad. I can always play the dumb American card since we never really pay attention to other countries.

I mean (be warned this is my personal opinion) that Americans seem to more self-centered than other countries. I mean it seems like a ton of people from other countries speak english but american's never learn other languages. Some even ***** about all the mexicans here that don't speak english, even though we stole the country from them. American's also seem to be bad at klumping everyone together, like all latins are the same to us, all arabs are the same. Although I am an American I try not to be like this but I do thing generally speak that American's are the worst about things of this nature. All most know is that America is better and nothing much matters past that, it kind of disheartens me. Ok I'll shut up now before I get this thread moved to chit chat or some such.

The codename Everett was chosen because of uncle Bill's obsession with the late English comedial Kenny Everett.
If you look closely at a tape of the XBox launch party a couple of years ago, you'll see Mr G wearing a feather boa under his tux and he's definitely showing a bit of eyeliner.
Its all in the best possible taste.
This is definitely true.
I don't live here any more.
