Oh God Finland Here I Come (installation)

I have to go to Finland next month to install a brand new untested system onto a finish machine. Is there anything i need to know about Finish computer installation or is it the same as Uk versions. Any installer complications and more importantly where is the nearest border i can run to when it goes wrong. Yes you read that right WHEN it goes wrong not IF. This is a disaster and i can see the tidal wave is going to sweep me away, and i dont give a f***!!!!!! Companys fault not mine!!!! Logic failiure because to install an Music download server, ftpserver, countless mini apps for information etc all must work on the web in a country 100's of miles away. WOHOOO DOWN GOES THE COMPANY!!!!!!!!

    ANY ADVISE????

Advice 1: How about actually testing out the system before going?

Advice 2: About Finnish computers. They're just like Norwegian computers: They generate more errors than you have lines of code. 'Nuff said. (Peet will verify this for you )

EDIT: Dude, I had no idea you were a grown up individual who had a job. That's just scary to think about.

Set your regional settings to Finnish and check - date validation, number validation and sorting.

Also, just a thought, but if your app does any file IO, make sure you weren't using characters you thought would never be used as delimeters and things like that...

    1. You deserve to have a hard time if you are taking an untested application to a foreign country and expect it all to work fine.

    2. This is now chit chat.

How is VB install considered Chit chat!!!!

I have no choice as to when and where the install is and can only test the client effectively. The other company will not send their pc to us to test and that always raises complications when they are running other apps as well.

P.s i dont expect it to work but my superiors DO!!!

I take it back. Perhaps it won't descend into Chit Chat after all.

After installation fails, as you predict, you might want to visit one of Finland's many fine bars. Here is a website to help you drown your sorrows away

They sell cider here.. and vodka although its heavily taxed

I've had no unusual problems other than problems usual windows related problems, which is quite a long list of problems of course, but thats about those, I use a english version, with UK settings..

dunno if I could be of any help, but I can buy you a cider if you want
