The PDC is the Professional Developers Conference put on roughly once a year by Microsoft. It is a pricey conference in that it cost between $1000 and $2000 depending on any discounts you might get.

This is a four or five day conference that is packed with sessions on Microsoft development technologies that are happening today or will be happening in the next few years. Most of the presentations are done by Microsoft product people. Many of the presentations include coding examples, so these are aimed at developers.

At this year's event, they are going to be talking about Longhorn, Whidbey, Yukon and more. (If you don't know what these are, you should subscribe to the eNewsletter I do with CodeGuru.com). (Longhorn is the next version of Windows that will be released in 2005 or so, Whidbey is the next version of Visual Studio .NET that will be released, and. Yukon is the next version of SQL Server that will be released. In addition to getting a jump on information on these products, they are suppose to also give attendees an alpha version of Whidbey and a possiblely a preview version of Longhorn.

You can find out more on Microsoft's site as http://msdn.microsoft.com/events/pdc (I think). I find this to be a fun, educational, conference. The sessions are great. Bill Gates or Steve Ballmer usually keynotes one of the sessions. They usually have an exhibit hall with a large number of venders as well.

That's the PDC in a nutshell.
