    I think USB 1 is like 1 mb/sec whereas usb2 is 60
    so it would be painful I guess

    I think it goes somthing like this. Ive seen the speeds of some FireWire external hd's and they seem pretty fast.

    IEEE 1394 #2 - (800mbit)
    USB #2 (480mbit)
    IEEE 1394 (400mbit)
    USB 1.1 (12mbit)
    USB 1 (12mbit).

    :-\ Im not a genius when it comes to file sizes but isnt a song about 3mb's? and lets see here.

    10gb = 2500 songs = 7500mb

    1mb/sec and 7500 = 7500 seconds

    7500 seconds = 125 minutes

    125 minutes = ......2 hours? that sux. But It'll be worth the wait. Plus I will have my laptop at christmas [hopefully has usb2.0] so i will only have to suffer a lil.

    Also factor in that I dont even have 2500 songs. I have like 500 so thats

    1500mb = 1500 sec
    1500sec = 25 mins

    Not so bad! Thanks for your help
