How's the learning curve from vb6 to .net?

Hi. I'm looking to get a job in my area and most companies are looking for .net developer. I did VB5-6 in college very well and programmed in a windows based language called Clarion 5 for about 3 years. I can't get my hands on .net since my funds are low but I'd love to get a job programming in .net.

I just want know if somebody can program in vb6 and other windows based languages... is the learning curve for .net too steep to get a job without experience and still hit the ground running?

    Thanks.

I would say so, .NET is quite a bit different so just knowing VB5/6 you will not be able to jump right in and code in VB.NET. Read this: http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.p...hreadid=261471
