    nameless test RPG

    Well,
I wanted to create my own test tile engine, but I ended up going to far creating an RPG without alot of maps... I'd like to know what you all think of my very first game.

Something tells me that I would've got a quicker reply if I posted this in another forum...

I take it that no one has played it?

    ok

I'm going to be away for 10 days, but i'd be glad to look at it.
If it is any help, usually only having a few maps is OK, they just have to be big and filled.

link doesn't work at the moment, i'll try it again when i get back

Then I'd have to get the camera to move somehow(very hard)

and I'd have to create tiles and stuff... which also looks so hard....

Currently I just drew 4 small maps and made it load a different map when you went to the edge of the screen..

    Thanks.
It was pretty fun to make and all, but I didn't use any Tile Engine... and all those high tech codes... The day after I learnt BitBlt... I just sat down for a few hours and coded it.

    Your RPG

The ennemy have really funny name, but I wasn't able to kill the Mad Shoe.

For my opinion try to put apart the vb things, like the inputbox, the msgbox vb icon form etc...

Bug: the game does not always (I have try a couple of times and I get the samething, it's not a random bug) unload when I quit the game.

If you want to create a funny rpg, you are on the good track eheheh

    Keep working on it

    Thumbs up

It's a great start, keep going on it!!

I did something similar to this in VB6 once. Mine looked better.

Do you have a more recent version? updated?

    unfortunately not...
I stopped working on this game and learned Tile Engines, animations and gameloops. It's a pity that I never finish any of my projects... maybe it's because I aim too high or get bored of them.

I usually have done the same thing. I'm trying not to do that anymore.

Oh, and i'm not sure if u remember playing PatRPG, but it's bigger-sibling Quest (aka PatRPG2) is almost complete. Seeing as its in DX 8, and C++, its better, so i'll post whenever i'm fully done.

(Right at this moment a few ppl who said they'd do some graphics for me haven't, so it looks as though more MSPaint 4 me...
