MOBO brand question
I'm looking to match a motherboard up w/ an athlon XP 2500 (or so)
1) first, which is the best core barton/throughbread?
2) what are good brands of MOBO's/chipsets
3) best memory for above match for speed/stabil. (512M)
I'm putting this machine together for a friend of mine, he plans to use it for showing real estate.

So you're going 333 FSB?
Well, there's
http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/...es=1&model=125
Serial ATA, USB 2.0, AGP 8X, VIA KT600, and softmenu overclocking with OC protections. Also abit MAXFid, which lets you adjust the athlon XP CPU clock, as well as the FSB clock. Vapochill overclockability.
I have an Abit 1600+(@default 1.4Ghz), with 256mB of Micron Crucial RAM (tweaked timings), and a Radeon 9000 pro(128MB DDR).
It runs nicely. Although Corsair, or Mushkin memory is just as good, if not better.

Stick to a well-known brand name, and you won't go wrong.
problem is, I dont know which ones are "well-known"
a few more, since I'm at it
FIC? (First somthin' somthin')
BioStar?
Give the 7NNXP a try... you won't be sorry
The price is the only killer w/ that one, but I might bite anyway.

Biostar are the cheapo end...
The 7NNXP may be relatively expensive when compared to other so-called "rival" manufacturers, but it's the heart of a good PC, so doesn't it make sense to spend the most money on it?
If you fit a cheap motherboard, and top-quality CPU/MEMORY/HARD DRIVES/GFX/SOUND... they are all only as good as the motherboard allows them to be.
Trust me, Gigabyte are well known for quality... and I litterally wouldn't put anything else in my system.
I can't stress enough just how important a good PSU & motherboard are to a reliable PC... it'll save to time and money in the long run!
The cheapest I can offer for the 7NNXP is £150 Inc VAT. But you need to spend at least £200 to get a good motherboard and PSU combination...
Hope this helps.
