David Blaine - Stunt comes to an end

David Blaine has given up his controversial stunt at Tower Bridge in London. He was told that 44 days doing nothing in a box is not going to break the record which is currently held by Emile Heskey at 4 years.

LOL! No I hadn't heard that! I guess you would freak if that happened!

I just hope David hasn’t underestimated the British people’s potential for cynicism and downright nastiness when it comes to daft Americans suspending themselves over our rivers. (Remember when they hanged that monkey in Hartlepool because they thought he was a French spy?)

It is usually what is attached to the box that I can't stand.

That was one Radio 1 before but they had a funnier one about how he entered into a naughts and crosses competition but his imaginary school friend beat him in the grand final and he got really mad.

There was a documentary on one of the Sky channels many months back about how he did that ice thing. He wasnt in there all the time, supposedly the switch took place when they sprayed water on the ice and it clouded up for a few minutes. I cant remember the exact details but im sure a search on the net would find it.
Please don't discourage me, I never hurt anyone.

Emile doesn't have to do anything with a world class diver next to him. Either he lumbers the balls in the back of the net or the dwarf next to him takes a dive for a dodgy penno

    I don't understand the animosity.

He's just a dude, doing stupid stunts.

The English must have absolutly nothing else to worry about.

It's a publicity stunt, and that might be a cool thing to do in the US, but over here that's a pretty dumb thing to do, and he will get grief for doing it. We have a very different way of thinking to you guys. He should have done his research...... Us Brits are a cynical bunch I'm tellin ya!

Now if he were doing it for world peace, cure for cancer, or any of the countless good charities out there; it might have been different.

As he isn't, he deserves everything he gets: after all he will invariably get paid for it (TV interview, exclusives etc etc)

    interesting take, yrwyddfa

I almost commented that "it's not like he's doing it for something stupid, like world peace."

If he were jumping the Thames on a motorbike or something, then that would gain him respect. Also, if he were doing it for charity, then that would gain him respect too.

I'm sure that if he did this stunt in NY, then the crowds would stand there wooping, shouting 'Go David Go' and 'U.S.A' and waving the stars and stripes . We are just soooooo different to Americans in that respect. It's got nothing to do with being anti-american, but it's just that we find that sort of behaviour annoying.

Meanwhile, you have a goofball running around in a super hero costume, removing tire locks.

Of course if it was a Spainish speaking country he was in, he would need a puppet in the box with him. Nothing is more entertaining to spainish speakers than goofy puppets.

Thats funny though..... (and I think it's supposed to be a bit 'tongue in cheek')

When in the UK, David should stick to doing what he does best.....his card tricks/levitation on the street. That stuff is actually entertaining!

Problem is, all his tricks have been exposed on TV as to how they were done, and he may not be good enough to come up with new ones.

Not hadrly all. Some of the simpler ones have, but I've seen him do things that have enver been explained and I've watched everyone of those "magicians exposed" type shows.

And ofcourse he's good enough to come up with new ones.

If he did that here, he'd probably get shot. We don't throw eggs, we throw bullets.

I'm plenty pissed. He sits in a box for a few days and women are flashing their breasts at him. I've been sitting in a box for years, and that hasn't happened. What do I have to do, hang my office from a cable?

I've tried that, it doesn't work. Nobody would stand still long enough for me to get the cable around their necks.
