    distributed application Q!!

    hi,
    I read that .net remoting , sockets and xml webservices are used for distributed applications, whats the difference between them and when should they each be used?

    and how are they related, if related at all ( before i thought that xml webservices use , .net remoting, and .net remotings channel uses sockets to connect to the other end of the remoting system)
