THATS very irritating so no help here..
But oke.. why don't you change the focus, like normal pop-up do, to the main website, so the pop-up becomes a pop-under.

Why would you want to do something like that? I can't think of a nice reason why you would want to.

It is for my gaming clans website the pop up will be used for playing an mp3 one of the members has created. but the site refreshes its self a few times with logging in and by clicking on certain links and i don't want the song to play over and over again. I thought a pop up that only poped up once and didn't interfear with the user would be the best way.

Dork 1 you see from the responses here that not many people like pop ups unders or windows that fly around the screen.
So I don't think they'll want an MP3 nicking their bandwidth. Having said that popup questions have been answered here before try doing a search

Most people who know how to use the internet well will never see/hear it.
MP3s playing is also annoying.
If you must do this, I'd suggest you check out Flash and it's cookie like variables. Or maybe put a tiny frame like 1px tall and 100% wide at the bottom or top and play it in their while other pages can be used in the main part

I'm sure if you had a link that said "Play Mp3" that made a window popup in the foreground, everyone would be happy.
Playing music against the user's will and having popups hide themselves is enough to get you our limbs ripped off in small countries.

adding a frame would not work the window frefreshes when sertain things happen so they will just hear the song agian from the begining.. maybe the link idea would be better. I'll have to talk to the users of the site and the band to find a better solution thanks for your impute

As long as you do not refresh the entire frameset, it will not restart itself.

the site allready uses frames and it refeshes the entire site. I think i'm going to add a little flash on an empty spot on the left and people can turn the song off and on and maybe listen to other songs by the band

Nothing more annoying than a website with any kind of sound.
For heaven's sake, I have my own MP3s running in the background, I don't need any other sound!
Sorry for the rant, seemed like a good place.

I like browsers that disable them. Very smart feature.

I think Flash was the worst thing ever created. Except for games. Any time I come across a Flash website, I shiver.
Of course, as soon as I get a high speed connection (which is tomorrow), I'll change my tune.
