    Need urgent advice...

I'm looking to upgrade my sound system, and I need some comments on what to order...

    I have:

Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 Live Digital
    Creative Cambridge Soundworks SW310 2.1

    I need advice on:

    Creative Audigy 2 Platinum Ex
    Creative MegaWorx 550 5.1 THX / Logitech Z680's

I've heard excellent reviews about both brands of speakers, and because I already have Creative speakers, I'm tending to show preference, but which is actually better?

Should I be looking for another brand all together? Are Klipsch as good as people say?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers...

Personally I don't like creative. You want them? Fine. I don't try to push my opinion on others. Get what you feel like

680s are awesome if I recall correctly. I remember that the 640s were a let-down and the 560s were good too (think of it like 560s = Radeon 8500, 640s = Radeon 9000 (higher number but it's worse), and 680s = Radeon 9700 (cream of the crop!)).

And by the way, Klipsch are the Lian-Li of computer speakers: you'll pay more than they're worth, but they're [usually] the best. Some of their stuff is crap thou if I remember.

    Thanx Sas.

I'm looking at the Klipsch website now... but there are so many to choose from, which one is better? lol

The ProMedia GMX D-5.1 look pretty good, but I don't think they are wall-mountable!

The Ultra 5.1's aren't available yet either! I'll take another look at the Logitech Z680's, but a friend told me they were crap!

They don't have to be LOUD... just good quality!

    Any other comments?

I'd say get the 560s... they seem to do a good job
Also the ProMedias are the ones you want from Klipsch. =/

I've heard (seen) some dreadful reviews of Klipsch since this morning! Some real down'ers!

I like the Logitech Z680's, but several people now have said they sound crap, although 90% of the rest say they are GR8.

The creative MegaWorx 550 5.1 THX's also look pretty good, but I know how much you hate creative! Dunno why though, mine have been great up until now when I creamed one against the wall!

    RIP: Creative SW310 |^|

I can't believe nobody else has responded... surely everyone has speakers, so throw me your comments?

    Cheers...

I've got a couple of Altec Lansings. They do the job but leave me wanting more... =/

By the way, the Creative Speakers have digital inputs that are incompatible with anything BUT their own SoundBlaster line. So you're out of luck if you're thinking of using it with ex. a Fortissimo III (excellent) or Philips Acoustic Edge (excellent too, but hard to find).

Speaker wise, get the Videologic Digitheatre DTS. You can bounce cups off the subwoofer

    Thanx for the help guys!

    I've ordered (from Dabs!!!):

    Logitech Z680 505watt RMS
    ThermalTake XaserIII Silver w/window
LG 15" TFT, and it'll be vertically wall-mounted!!!

Dabs service seems pretty good! The order was placed at 4:57pm 2day, and it's (reported) as being authorised, processed, packed and ready for delivery 2moro. Gotta be good!

I'll let you all know what I think of them. I'm sooooo looking forward to receiving these speakers!

I've just realised how stupid "vertically wall mounted" sounds!

It'll be on the ceiling anyway!
