Virus disabled my ability to connect
After removing the MSBlaster worm,
Reinstalled OS(Formatted HD)
Installing SP4, and the patch,
This **** happened,
Whenever I connect to the internet, after 5 min, it stops "browsing", it's not disconnected, but when I click on the little connection icon on tastbar, the "Error:" part increases every second.
I am using WIn2k Pro. Pls help.

So Unbanned
Sounds more like a line error than a virus.

Maybe, very maybe, run an on-line virusscanner, and see the results...

I'de be inclined to re-create your DNS entries. It sounds to me like the DNS is screwing itself over, which will give you various wierd errors.
I'm not aware of a virus which would do what you have reported, but never rule it out!
Go to ...
housecall.trendmicro.com
Run the virus scanner there, and it'll tell you everything you need to know!

Nope, it's not a virus.
I switched 2 modems, same problem. How do you fix this DNS problem?

Lower the BAUD rate first, and see if that helps. Some providers limit maximum output, although it's very rare.
Also, check the total REN on your telephone line. The maximum in the UK is 4, any more... and your line will be hazzy and scratchy! Some echo too!
Find another providers DNS records, and try adding them as your primary entry. If you are still having trouble, then mstsc may come in handy!
Next time it errors, try pinging out from CMD, and see if it responds. It probably won't, but it's best to check. The ping command will work without any DNS records, providing you give it raw IP's and not physical URL's.
If you're with NTL, they are still having some minor issues with the DNS clusters following the problems last week. If the DNS deployed with errors, it could take up to 1 week to settle down, so expect a few minor cock-ups! This is NTL after all!
Regards,
Paul.
