I would have to disagree with you. ok the incident with your friend wasn't good, but the majority of all accidents between lorries and cars is normally always caused by the car, with the most comon one being that cars always dive in front of a lorry which is effectively it's breaking zone, and wonder why they get back ended by a 40 tonne truck when they have to break heavily

and contrary to popular belief, you don't own the road. The speed limit is only 10 mph more than what artics are limited too, and they have as much right as anybody to over take slow moving vehicles

Most of my incidents have been because of some dingus using their friggin phone and not paying attn to the red light, or the stop sign, or the fact that there is a stopped vehicle right in front of them....

Here's one for you (Absolutely true story that happened on Dec. 12, 1999)
I had just finished taking my college finals and my birthday was a couple of days before, so me and all my friends decided to meet up at a local nightclub. At about 11pm that night I stopped drinking (I had already had 1 DUI 6 years earlier, and learned my lesson with drinking and driving).
Well, the bar closes down, and although I feel somewhat buzzed, I am perfectly capable of driving. So, I get im my car and head home. During my drive home I get stuck behind the slowest driver in the world, this person was literally doing 10mph in a 35mph zone. Som I'm thinking "this idiot is drunk, I'll just go around him". So I start to pass him, as we start to head down a hill. I looked ahead and didn't see any cars comming an pulled out to start my pass. Well there just so happen to be a dip in the road. A dip so deep that I didn't see the car until I was ebout evenly next to the car I was passing. So it was either slam on the brakes and slide back behind the car I was trying to pass, or slam on the gas and speed by the car I was passing. So I floored the accelerator (hitting about 60 mph. I was driving a Mazda RX-7). Keep in mind this is about 2:00 am. So anyway I pass the car, swerve back into my lane narrowly missing this other car, as I'm reaching 70 mph in a 30 mph zone. Only to find out that the car I narrowly missed a head on collision with at 70 mph was a ****ing cop car!
He flips on his lights. I drive to the bottom of the hill and pull into a convenience store parking lot and wait for him (I learned my lesson about trying to out run cops, but that's another story). Anyway, he pulls in behind me, we go through the bs ("do you know why I stopped you?) he ends up giving me a field sobriety test. Which I pass without any problems. Then he decides he is going to run my license. Well, a couple of months earlier a friend of mine had just bought a new BMW, and we were out one night and got pulled over while for it not being legally licensed (He was still driving on the expired temporary license plate tag). I was sriving his car, because he was drinking. So anyway we get stopped and I get the ticket! So my friend says don't worry about it I'll pay it. Well, I thought he had paid it! So when the cop runs my license, he finds out that I have a warrant for my arrest for not paying this ticket. So he arrests me and takes me to the police station. Well, once we are at the police station the cop decides he wants to give me a breathalyzer test to see if I am over the legal limit. At that time the legal limit was .10 to be considered drunk. I get up to the machine and blow, and it reads .11 I blew 1/10th over the legal limit. So what could have been just a stupid $100 speeding ticket ended up costing me a couple of thousand dollars, all because my friend didn't pay the ticket he said he was going to pay for me.
It cost me $500 for an attorney, $125 for court costs, 80 hours of community service, 48 hour in-patient substance abuse clinic, plus I was placed on probabtion for 3 years (which costs $20/month).
And the funny thing of all, is I rarely drink. Usually, just on special occasions.
Being educated does not make you intelligent.

Well, I have never had a wreck, but have had many close calls. Most recently when I was coiming home from college, I was travlleing on a hgihway. There is another highway that intersects the one I was on, and that intersection is well known for getting people killed. I was behind two cars, and the driver in the first car suddenly slams on his brakes, apparently thinking there is a stop sign at the intersection even though there isnt, and never has been. The car behind him slams on his brakes too, but his brake lights dont work, so I dont notice it till I start coming up on him REAL fast. I slam on my brakes too, but I realize I'm not gonna make it, so I check the other lane for traffic and swerve into it. By the time I finally stop, I would have been in the second car's front seat if I didnt swerve.
Where I live, we got a lot of ice last winter, so that made for a couple of close calls too, mostly because of idiots thinking they could go 50 mph on ice.
BTW, I'm porbably just stupid, but what is a Lorry?

The problem around here is all the old farts putting around in their cadillacs. They just pull out when they feel like it. They're completely oblivious to all road signs probably because they can't read them. Yield always means stop for at least 30 seconds while they try to remember where they're going. They're a menace in any parking lot and you've basically got to assume they don't see you.
I don't care if they've been driving for 65 years and have never had a ticket. After 70 everyone should have to pass a road-test every 2 years.
Grrrrr

i do a large amount of motorway miles a day to get to and from work. and yes the most annoying thing is people sitting in the middle lane of the motorway when there is no one in the slow lane. GET OVER A LANE U ****ERS!! Just because it is called the slow lane doesn't make you less of a man to be driving in it!!!
