Is there a way to get around this inconvenience?
Gentleman:
I just bought the upgrade version of Visual Studio.Net Professional 2003. I upgraded from Visual Basic 6.0 Professional.
QUESTION:
Is there a way to get around this inconvenience?
I Format my entire computer approximately every 3 months, (the reason? lot of downloads, install demos, viruses, etc, etc.)
Do I need to reinstall, once again, the OLD Visual Basic 6.0 Professional BEFORE I can install the new upgrade version of Visual Studio.Net Professional 2003? Do I absolutely need to do this over and oven again? Is there a way to get around this inconvenience?
Thanks for your help
Andy

Yes. It is going to detect if you have a previous version of VB installed. That it why its called Upgrade.

Well I know that some products that MS has only ask you to install the original disk into the cd drive to verify you have it, then it will do a full install from the upgrade disk, I remember a win98 cd doing that to me everytime I formated. I don't know about vs.net, you can try...

Have you thought about using Norton Ghost from Symantec?
This world is not my home. I'm just passing through.

The fastest , safest , and best way to do is : ghost your system partition . I did this and I no longer use VS.NET 2003 cds . When anything goes wrong , just restore that image (with all programs previously installed) . It works well . I've been using this ghost thingy since Win98 days .
