WindowsXP : How to not allow the user to access dialup networking accounts?

Off the top of my head, don't select that "Save Password" option, and make sure they don't know the password

Slightly more informative, you can probably set up something using Policies and stuff...I know that we do that here, just not the exact specifics of how, and the guy that DOES is on holiday...Or if you have loads of moolah, you could set up Citrix and make the user run a terminal server desktop

... I suppose I could disable the modem from control panel and not give users administrative rights...

Dial-Up uses DHCP, just disable DHCP but then they may not be able toa ccess your network (if it uses DHCP)

Start>Run "Services.msc"


Goto DHCP, double click. Go to the drop down box and click manual, then hit stop at the bottom.

Now you HAVE to manually start this to get a DHCP address, however, a user may be able to use the modem still, dunno if it'll try to dial up or not.

Another option is to create a hardware profile in which modem is not installed and user are assigned to that profile.

Also user don't have permission to install new hardware so it fixes all the problem.
