    Linux [RESOLVED]

I am a programmer, and I am planning to buy Red Hat, but there is a Personal and a Professional version. Which one should I buy?

"Can't" and "shouldn't" are two totally separate things.

All questions should be answered. All answers should be true. That is why I post.

I tried downloading DX 8.1 SDK (about 120MB) using a file splitter, and it took me about a week after several failed attempts.

Few weeks of aggravation versus $80. Decisions, decisions..

I would buy it for single reason that people want linux to catch up with MS, but in order to do that, the distro companies need to start making money for future additions and advertising. Open your wallet and help out your favorite distro.

They should start pooling their resources.

I have RedHat 8.0 personal installed (downloaded it) and installed all the complete release. There are a lot of programming tools, some very basic ( a C/C++ compiler) some a pretty advanced (something like visual C++ with a IDE enviroment)
But everything you do must be C/C++

You're not limited to c/c++ : You can get IBM's eclipse for linux if you want to do java development; Borland's Kylix is a delphi-like language complete with window designer; just need to look around and see what's out there
Every passing hour brings the Solar System forty-three thousand miles closer to Globular Cluster M13 in Hercules -- and still there are some misfits who insist that there is no such thing as progress.

$80???? i Have seen cd sets (NOT BOX or anything for >$10USD) Why spend $80 for documentation that your not gonna use very much or at all when you can get it in pdf's or whatever for free?

Im sure some that you know has highspeed and a buner

also m$ will send you cd version of service packs, sdk's and many downloadable items for $5-10usd + S&H so dont have to spend so much time downloading.
