Resume previous download....how?
guys,
does anyone know how should i go about it??? i am to developa an application called ("downloader") that can resume previous download ... but i had no idea about this??? is there any component or references object that i can use to do this job???
Resume the download from where it stop in the previous attempt .... i dont know how it goes.... how does the program know that where it stop at????

which method is better for developing a downloader? Winsock or Inet control????????????? I hope to have progress during download and resume functionality

try looking at planet-source-code (link below), there are lots of vb projects there that do it - find out how they work

before i really look into the samples available there... i need some confirmation first "on which is the best way or component to be used" cause i dont want to be stucked in the middle of nowhere because of the limitation of the component possess..... this is a must success project ...... Experts please advise me ...........

so why don't you have a look at the project descriptions there?
you can see what the project is capable of before you even find out what method it uses.. if it does what you want then you can add it to your shortlist - get a few projects to see which methods will be best fro you

the sample are all too advance for me ....... i am a beginner in using winsock ................. ok could you show me a simple downloader that download an exe file from a web site??

if you can't work it out from somebody elses project then find tutorials to help you - there are thousands around the web. Most of them should end up giving you more than enough info to download files.

are you really incapable of searching the internet for a few tutorials?
you are posting lots of questions in the same area, and ALL of them that i have read will be answered by a decent tutorial. you will also understand better that way, as everything will be explained to you..

Anyway, i manage to solve the downloader probe for this time... i understand the winsock working from vbip.com.... thanks for those suggestions too..........

well, u might check out http protocols and ftp protocols.
When u understand them fully, u'll know wut to do with just
couple of winsocks and a class module.
