Installation Package Tools (resolved)
What is the best (a.k.a free or really cheap) program to make installation packages?
I don't need anything too fancy, but easy enough not to be as much of a pain as the PDW.
Thanx,

InnoSetup.

or Visual Studio Installer from Microsoft's site.

I don't use it myself, but based on a lot of posts that I've seen, I'd vote for Inno. Someone in the forums wrote a P&D to Inno converter that you can probably find if you search for it.

You wrote that personally you don't use Inno, so I am asking which software do you use for making setup program. May be that software is more advanced with more options.

When I was working I used my company's InstallShield (I'm retrired now). I don't have the need for something that expensive now and so I use the P&D Wizard which I have modified somewhat for my own purposes. Since the P&D Wizard is written in VB, you can modify it to do most anything you want. That may not be as easy as using the built-in features of something like InstallShield but it's good enough for me.

Ok,
I decided to give Inno Setup another try, and... It's the bomb!!! Last time I wanted to use it, it just seemed a little complicated with all of the script options; however, ISTools was a huge help... I was able to add license information to the registry, create an uninstall, and I don't have to worry with Microsoft's Crappy, uncompatability ridden MSI! (Which just happened to screw up my last program's installation (on the customer's site )...
Well guys (and gals if any replied),
thanx for the advice!
