Windows XP HOme vs Professional
I was wondering what version is the best for a basic user. I have heard alot of ppl bashing Home is there are reasons that would affect a basic (internet/Word) type user NOT a gamer or developer? Im kinda favoring XP pro (i use it every day and i can get it cheaper) but if home is better for a baisc user then i will get that.
Any oppinions???

Pro is the best, I love it. Home doesnt have some features like Pro does. I like a fully featured OS not a lower version.

Win2k3 is better than XP.
However, I plan to stick with win2k until atleast 2006.

Agree in W2K3 is way faster than XP but keep in mind that it's a server system and there could be many softwares which you can't run on it. And W2K3's IE is bit annoying in the beginning but after you have configured ur regular visiting sites it's cool.
Cheers.

They also said the same for win2k, but I have yet to find an integral app that won't run. Basically the only things that don't work are dependent on old technology, or are programmed poorly.

Agree and it probably wont run any program which is directly going to access hardware.
But there aren't many in my usage which does that.

XP is the same as W2K and W3K when it comes to directly access hardware.

If you don't care about money, get Win XP Pro (for home use, for office use I'll rather advise for Win2K Server).
Remember that, some programs won't run in Win XP Home like ASP.NET (VB.NET runs though), Oracle 9i Management Server (though other components of Oracle 9i Enterprise runs fine on WinXP Home).
