    Activating an external device

    Hi,

    I wonder if anyone knows how to activate an external device from, say a command button.

    To be specific, a cash till/drawer. I am doing a program similar to POS and need to code that when a button is clicked to confirm sale...the cash drawer activates and opens.

    You need to use the MSComm control to send signals out the port the drawer is connected to.

    Most of that kind of hardware attaches to a serial port, eg., COM2, or COM3....
