Thumbs up Won't install visio enterprise architect ** Resolved **

I have installed VS Enterprise Architect 2003, no problems there.

When I try installing Visio EA I get a message telling me I need VS Enterprise architect version 7 installed first.

    So I can't install it.

Anyone else know of any problems or know of any fixes?

I was beginning to wonder if it is because I am running WinXP Home Edition instead of XP Pro. Or maybe its not compatible with vs 2003.

    Any ideas.

    XP Home or XP Pro?

I wouldn't expect it to matter but you never can tell these days.

Have you installed Visio EA from MSDN disks or a boxed version?

Attached is the message I am getting.

Edneeis - Are you saying you installed VS.NET 2003 and is Visio EA 2003 or just Visio EA.

VS.Net 2003 is version 7.1 and the error message says

You must first install Enterprise Architect Edition of Visual Studio.Net 7.0

So as vS.net 2003 is version 7.1 and visio is looking for version 7.0 is there another version of visio I should be installing or is there some way around it, (registry fix though this is probably a last resort)

    I am really struggling now.

I am running XP Pro and using the Visio that came with EA 2003 and did install it after VS on the same machine.

For anyone wanting to know how I fixed it please send a donation to

Actually the answer was extremely simple so I am kicking myself.
I didn't notice in my MSDN box the extra disk (number 2084) with the title "Visio for Enterprise Architects 2003" so I was using the disk for VS.net prior to 2003.

What triggered me to check back was when Edneeis said
using the Visio that came with EA 2003
Had I checked first I would have known.

Ah well, we live and learn.
