But .zip files are still more popularly used. I don't even have winrar or anything on my computer.

Not saying to conform or anything.

I'll find out if management has any problem adding rar files to the list.

I agree with you, Pirate, and I wasn't trying to be an ass in my initial post, just offering an alternative. Although now that I think of it, I'm sure you've already heard of winzip.

Uploadable file types are enabled. As such, we are not disabling anything - we simply haven't enabled rar files.

    By the way.....
I have a very hard time taking any request seriously when the person asking the request is flipping me off with their avatar. .

I added rar as a valid upload extension. I'd guess that a lot of people won't be familiar with it, so if you use it, expect people to ask how to unpack it.

I also added cs as a valid extension for C# files.

As for the avatar , it's just a kid .

rar files can be unpacked by winzip or any other popular zip programs , so it's not a problem at all .

Thanks Brad for answering the request

I aggree, winRAR is faster and compresses better than winzip. And as far as I know winzip can't extract files from winrar3+

I've never had any problem extracting from winzip/winrar to/from winrar/winzip . Both support each other (although they are enemies).

Winzip can't do .rar files, but both can do the .zip format.

I don't think a .rar and .zip debate belongs in Forum Feedback.

I wouldn't consider this a debate, rather just an exchange of information and perhaps differences of opinion.

I don't think an exchange of information of this kind belongs in Forum Feedback either.

The initial request was granted. If they want to discuss .rar and .zip file formats, and what can deal with them, shouldn't they go to General PC?

I just responded to your thread, and, like I said in it, you'll need an Administrator to fulfill your request, not a Moderator like Martin. Although Martin could probably contact the Admins for you.

Martin can contact the admin , I know . I just wanted him to answer my question if it's possible with less modifications or hard to change that . I view this is important to update the forum to be suitable for the VS.NET languages (VB.NET , C#.NET) .
